Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Audrey Hepburn and Art Buchwald with Simone, Barbara Mullen, Frederick Eberstadt, and Dr. Reginald Kernan, Evening dresses by Balmain, Dior, Patou, Maxim’s, Paris, August 1959 by Richard Avedon was sold in the Photographies & Lothar Schirmer's Glamour Collection auction at Christies in Sydney in November this year. The price achieved of EUR 37,800.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Richard Avedon achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Beatles Portfolio: John Lennon, Ringo Starr, George Harrison and Paul McCartney, London in November last year with an auction result of GBP 809,000.00 (€ 937,446.28).

Die Arbeit Audrey Hepburn and Art Buchwald with Simone, Barbara Mullen, Frederick Eberstadt, and Dr. Reginald Kernan, Evening dresses by Balmain, Dior, Patou, Maxim’s, Paris, August 1959 von Richard Avedon wurde im November diesen Jahres in der Auktion Photographies & Lothar Schirmer's Glamour Collection bei Christies in Sydney versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 37.800,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Richard Avedon erzielen.
