Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Rex Whistler achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in June 2017. In the Modern & Post-War British Art auction, the work Portrait Of Henry Paget sold for GBP 47,500.00 (€ 54,093.64) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 18,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Rex Whistler; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Portrait Of Lady Caroline Paget sold at auction in June 2017 with the realized price of GBP 68,750.00 (€ 78,293.42).
