Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Gentleman Said To Be Mr. Wordsworth by Matthew William Peters was sold in the Important British Paintings auction at Sothebys in London in November 2007. The price achieved of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 7,876.46) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Matthew William Peters have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Young Lady In A White Dress With Pink Bows, Seated At A Table, Reading A Book in January 2013 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 36,808.01).
