REGINALD MARSH (1898-1954) Striptease at New Gotham etching, on wove paper, 1935, Sasowsky's sixth (final) state, signed in pencil, inscribed 'State VI', numbered 12/40 (the numbering reinforced, Sasowsky notes that twenty were printed from the intended edition of 40), with margins Image: 12 x 9 in. (305 x 230 mm.) Sheet: 14 1 ⁄ 4 x 10 5 ⁄ 8 in. (362 x 270 mm.)
Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Striptease at New Gotham by Reginald Marsh was sold in the Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century auction at Christies in Sydney in August this year. It achieved a price of USD 1,764.00 (€ 1,627.46), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 18%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Reginald Marsh achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Merry-Go-Round in November 2015 with an auction result of USD 790,000.00 (€ 747,964.40).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Striptease at New Gotham von Reginald Marsh wurde im August diesen Jahres in der Auktion Tales of the City: New York Prints and Photographs of the Early 20th Century bei Christies in Sydney versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 1.764,00 (€ 1.627,46) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 18%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Reginald Marsh erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Merry-Go-Round im November 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 790.000,00 (€ 747.964,40).
