Architect and artist, Raymond Fung depicts the natural beauty of landscape of Hong Kong devoid of buildings. In his practice as a contemporary ink artist, landscape is construed with abstract expressions and contrasting colours. Fung’s lyrical and bold brushwork goes beyond the limitation of the ink on paper medium, accentuating the picturesque hills and islands of Hong Kong – what in the artist’s mind is ethereal, between heaven and earth.

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sheung Sze Wan by Raymond Fung was auctioned at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2016. It changed hands for a price of HKD 87,500.00 (€ 10,113.38) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of HKD 70,000.00 – 90,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Raymond Fung achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Breathing 1 in April 2021 with an auction result of HKD 1,008,000.00 (€ 107,922.19).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Sheung Sze Wan von Raymond Fung kam im Mai 2016 bei Christies in Hong Kong zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von HKD 87.500,00 (€ 10.113,38) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von HKD 70.000,00 – 90.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Raymond Fung erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Breathing 1 im April 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 1.008.000,00 (€ 107.922,19).
