Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2009 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art, which included the work Pincher by Ray Smith. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 6,000.00 20% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ray Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work El chubasco (triptych), which sold at auction in May 2001 for USD 14,100.00 (€ 16,676.52).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni 2009 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Pincher von Ray Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 6.000,00 und damit 20% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Ray Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit El chubasco (triptych) beobachtet, die im Mai 2001 für USD 14.100,00 (€ 16.676,52) versteigert wurde.
