Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled Escape Collage by Rashid Johnson was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session auction at Phillips in New York in November this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 600,000.00 – 800,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 635,000.00 (€ 582,141.55) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Rashid Johnson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Surrender Painting "Sunshine" in November last year with an auction result of USD 3,000,000.00 (€ 2,906,131.94).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Untitled Escape Collage von Rashid Johnson wurde im November diesen Jahres in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 600.000,00 – 800.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 635.000,00 (€ 582.141,55) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Rashid Johnson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Surrender Painting "Sunshine" im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.000.000,00 (€ 2.906.131,94).
