Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Five-character Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script by Rao Zongyi was sold in the Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings auction at Christies in Hong Kong in December last year. It achieved a price of HKD 176,400.00 (€ 21,138.98), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 18%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Rao Zongyi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Auspicious Flowers and Fruits in October 2021 with an auction result of HKD 8,040,000.00 (€ 894,338.64).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Five-character Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script von Rao Zongyi wurde im Dezember letzten Jahres in der Auktion Fine Chinese Modern and Contemporary Ink Paintings bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von HKD 176.400,00 (€ 21.138,98) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 18%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Rao Zongyi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Auspicious Flowers and Fruits im Oktober 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 8.040.000,00 (€ 894.338,64).
