Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of Señora Clotilde De Cándamo And Her Son Carlos by Raimundo de Madrazo y Garreta was sold in the European Art Part II auction at Christies in New York in October 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 35,000.00 (€ 30,050.66) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Raimundo de Madrazo y Garreta achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pierrette in October 2000 with an auction result of USD 281,000.00 (€ 331,133.63).
