In October 2000 Christies in New York held the auction Nineteenth Century European Art, which included the work Pierrette by Raimundo de Madrazo y Garreta. The price achieved of USD 281,000.00 (€ 331,133.63) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Pierrette is the most expensive artwork by Raimundo de Madrazo y Garreta that we have observed at auctions so far.
