Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2009 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Nineteen to Now, art from the 19th, 20th & 21st centuries, including Topographical Observations, African and Indonesian Pictures, which included the work Venice: feeding the pigeons, the San Marco tower in the distance by Raffaelle Mainella. The price achieved of EUR 1,750.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by Raffaelle Mainella have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Jerusalem in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 6,000.00 (€ 8,910.19).
