Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Toilers of the sea; and Homeward by R. Douglas was sold in the British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings auction at Christies in London in May 2000. It achieved a price of GBP 352.50 (€ 565.63), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 18%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by R. Douglas - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Sorting the catch; and Fishermen's cottages on the coast, which sold at auction in May 2000 for GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,696.90).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Toilers of the sea; and Homeward von R. Douglas wurde im Mai 2000 in der Auktion British and Continental Watercolours and Drawings bei Christies in London versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 352,50 (€ 565,63) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 18%. Für andere Arbeiten von R. Douglas mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Sorting the catch; and Fishermen's cottages on the coast beobachtet, die im Mai 2000 für GBP 1.057,50 (€ 1.696,90) versteigert wurde.
