A top price for R. Douglas - as previously expected
In May 2000 Christies in London held the auction Maritime, which included the work Sorting the catch; and Fishermen's cottages on the coast by R. Douglas. The price achieved of GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,696.90) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Sorting the catch; and Fishermen's cottages on the coast is the most expensive artwork by R. Douglas that we have observed at auctions so far.
