In December 2005 Christies in London held the auction 19th Century European Art including Russian Pictures, which included the work Il primo incontro by Pio Ricci. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 9,600.00 (€ 13,933.86), 37% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pio Ricci - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A Lovers'S Spat, which sold at auction in June 2008 for USD 46,875.00 (€ 29,765.68).

Im Dezember 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion 19th Century European Art including Russian Pictures durch, in der auch die Arbeit Il primo incontro von Pio Ricci zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 9.600,00 (€ 13.933,86) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Pio Ricci mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit A Lovers'S Spat beobachtet, die im Juni 2008 für USD 46.875,00 (€ 29.765,68) versteigert wurde.
