Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2005 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master and 19th Century Drawings, which included the work A priest holding his breviary by Pietro Longhi. It changed hands for a price of USD 66,000.00 (€ 50,578.59) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pietro Longhi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Elephant in February 2013 with an auction result of USD 1,314,500.00 (€ 1,005,046.26).

Im Januar 2005 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A priest holding his breviary von Pietro Longhi zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 66.000,00 (€ 50.578,59) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pietro Longhi erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Elephant im Februar 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.314.500,00 (€ 1.005.046,26).
