In December this year Bonhams in London held the auction The Grand Tour Sale, which included the work Interior of Crater of Vesuvius with spectators, from the Campi Phlegraei, plate IX by Pietro Fabris. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,088.00 (€ 1,253.33), 36% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pietro Fabris achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Carnival In Naples In 1778, With The 'Cavalcata Turca' Parading Through The Largo Di Palazzo in December 2013 with an auction result of GBP 782,500.00 (€ 941,226.14).
