Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A herdsman with flock crossing a ditch by Pieter Stortenbeker was auctioned at Christies in Amsterdam in September 2000. The price achieved of NLG 2,340.40 (€ 1,078.70) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as NLG 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pieter Stortenbeker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Cattle on the beach at low tide in October 2008 with an auction result of EUR 45,400.00.

Die Arbeit A herdsman with flock crossing a ditch von Pieter Stortenbeker kam im September 2000 bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von NLG 2.340,40 (€ 1.078,70) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit NLG 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Pieter Stortenbeker erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Cattle on the beach at low tide im Oktober 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 45.400,00.
