Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master Day Sale including Old Master Paintings, Drawings and British Works on Paper, which included the work Sailing Vessels In Choppy Seas by Pieter Mulier the Elder. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 18,125.64) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pieter Mulier the Elder - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work An Italianate landscape with a herdsman watering his livestock, which sold at auction in April 2006 for GBP 26,400.00 (€ 38,102.66).
