Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction 50 Masterworks to Celebrate 50 Years of Sotheby’s Photographs, which included the work 'Abdullahi Mohammad With Mainasara', Lagos, Nigeria From The Series The Hyena And Other Men, 2007 by Pieter Hugo. The price achieved of GBP 17,640.00 (€ 20,291.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pieter Hugo - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Mummy Ahmadu and Mallam Mantari Lamal with Mainasara, Abuja, Nigeria, 2005, which sold at auction in May 2018 for GBP 56,250.00 (€ 64,053.66).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion 50 Masterworks to Celebrate 50 Years of Sotheby’s Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Abdullahi Mohammad With Mainasara', Lagos, Nigeria From The Series The Hyena And Other Men, 2007 von Pieter Hugo zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 17.640,00 (€ 20.291,13) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Pieter Hugo mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Mummy Ahmadu and Mallam Mantari Lamal with Mainasara, Abuja, Nigeria, 2005 beobachtet, die im Mai 2018 für GBP 56.250,00 (€ 64.053,66) versteigert wurde.
