This artwork by Pierre Henri Tetar van Elven achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in April 2004. In the 19th Century European Art auction, the work A Cappricio View In A Dutch Town sold for EUR 19,120.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 9,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Pierre Henri Tetar van Elven achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A View of Jerusalem, seen from the East, with the Temple Mount and the Lion's Gate in April 2007 with an auction result of USD 432,000.00 (€ 316,251.83).
