Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2005 Christies in London held the auction TRAFALGAR BICENTENARY THE AGE OF NELSON,WELLINGTON&NAPOLEON, which included the work Portrait of the Empress Josephine, half-length, seated in a low-cut gold-figured white satin dress wearing a diamond and turquoise parure and a red shawl in a palatial interior by Pierre Louis Bouvier. The price achieved of GBP 16,800.00 (€ 24,774.92) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pierre Louis Bouvier - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of A Lady, Half Length, Holding An Artist'S Portfolio, Seated At A Table With A Chest Of Drawing Paraphernalia , which sold at auction in January 2016 for USD 56,250.00 (€ 51,929.47).
