Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2009 Christies in New York held the auction The Scholars Eye: Property from the Julius Held Collection Part II, which included the work The Eritrean Sibyl, after Michelangelo by Philipp Veit. The price achieved of USD 812.50 (€ 634.57) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 700.00 – 1,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Philipp Veit - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Raufende Knaben, which sold at auction in October 2004 for EUR 1,638.00.
