Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Phil May could be acquired at Christies in London in July 2003 for an unexpectedly low price. In the BRITISH ART ON PAPER INCLUDING ORIGINAL BOOK ILLUSTRATIONS auction, the work Fairies changed hands for GBP 282.00 (€ 368.59) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00. Admittedly, works by Phil May have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Queen Victoria and her family surrounded by political, artistic and sporting figures of the period in December 2001 with an auction result of GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,727.81).
