Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2006 Christies in London held the auction British and Continental Watercolours, which included the work The Blind Man At The Gate of The Temple, Strand by Phil May. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 420.00 (€ 623.71) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Phil May - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Queen Victoria and her family surrounded by political, artistic and sporting figures of the period, which sold at auction in December 2001 for GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,727.81).
