Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Showing A Toe by Phil May was sold in the British and Continental Watercolours auction at Christies in London in November 2006. The price achieved of GBP 336.00 (€ 498.97) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 200.00 – 400.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Phil May - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Queen Victoria and her family surrounded by political, artistic and sporting figures of the period, which sold at auction in December 2001 for GBP 1,057.50 (€ 1,727.81).
