Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Bricks by Philip Guston was sold in the 20th Century Evening Sale auction at Christies in New York in May this year. The price achieved of USD 7,310,000.00 (€ 6,861,272.76) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 6,000,000.00 – 8,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Philip Guston - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Strong Light, which sold at auction in November 2021 for USD 24,393,000.00 (€ 21,611,588.55).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Bricks von Philip Guston wurde im Mai diesen Jahres in der Auktion 20th Century Evening Sale bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 7.310.000,00 (€ 6.861.272,76) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 6.000.000,00 – 8.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Philip Guston mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Strong Light beobachtet, die im November 2021 für USD 24.393.000,00 (€ 21.611.588,55) versteigert wurde.
