Auction result well in line with expectations

In May 2001 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction OLD MASTER PICTURES, which included the work Boys quarrelling over a bowl of soup in a kitchen by Petrus Staverenus. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of NLG 18,000.00 – 22,000.00, the actual price achieved of NLG 18,800.00 (€ 9,056.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Petrus Staverenus achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Personification of the five senses: Sight: A young woman pointing; Hearing: A man counting coins; Smell: A laughing man smoking a pipe; Taste: A laughing man with an upturned glass; and Touch: A man operating on another man in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 175,000.00 (€ 192,138.36).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Im Mai 2001 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion OLD MASTER PICTURES durch, in der auch die Arbeit Boys quarrelling over a bowl of soup in a kitchen von Petrus Staverenus zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von NLG 18.000,00 – 22.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von NLG 18.800,00 (€ 9.056,46) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Petrus Staverenus erzielen.
