In May last year Christies in London held the auction The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship, which included the work Two Close by Peter Lanyon. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 403,200.00 (€ 474,326.42), 61% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peter Lanyon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Orpheus, which sold at auction in November 2018 for GBP 1,268,750.00 (€ 1,431,111.45).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 61 % übertroffen
Im Mai letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship durch, in der auch die Arbeit Two Close von Peter Lanyon zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 403.200,00 (€ 474.326,42) und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Peter Lanyon mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Orpheus beobachtet, die im November 2018 für GBP 1.268.750,00 (€ 1.431.111,45) versteigert wurde.
