This price was achieved in the auction The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 150,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peter Lanyon - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Orpheus, which sold at auction in November 2018 for GBP 1,268,750.00 (€ 1,431,111.45).
