The work Strange Coast by Peter Lanyon was sold in the The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship auction at Christies in London in May last year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 126,000.00 (€ 148,227.01), 58% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Peter Lanyon have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Orpheus in November 2018 with an auction result of GBP 1,268,750.00 (€ 1,431,111.45).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 58 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Strange Coast von Peter Lanyon wurde im Mai letzten Jahres in der Auktion The Collection of Sir Nicholas Goodison - British Art: Innovation and Craftsmanship bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 126.000,00 (€ 148.227,01) und damit 58% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Peter Lanyon auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Orpheus im November 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.268.750,00 (€ 1.431.111,45).
