Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Old Monument in the church of St John at Stone, Staffordshire by Peter de Wint was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 252.00 (€ 295.52). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter de Wint achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two boys with a donkey in January 2003 with an auction result of GBP 20,315.00 (€ 31,114.73).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Old Monument in the church of St John at Stone, Staffordshire von Peter de Wint im Juli 2021 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 600,00 – 800,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 252,00 (€ 295,52) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Peter de Wint erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Two boys with a donkey im Januar 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 20.315,00 (€ 31.114,73).
