In July 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Works on Paper, which included the work Portrait of Harriet de Wint, née Hilton (1791-1866) by Peter de Wint. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,820.00 (€ 10,343.28), 47% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peter de Wint - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Two boys with a donkey, which sold at auction in January 2003 for GBP 20,315.00 (€ 31,114.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 47 % übertroffen
Im Juli 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master & British Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Harriet de Wint, née Hilton (1791-1866) von Peter de Wint zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 8.820,00 (€ 10.343,28) und damit 47% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Peter de Wint mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Two boys with a donkey beobachtet, die im Januar 2003 für GBP 20.315,00 (€ 31.114,73) versteigert wurde.
