Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work A basket of grapes, with other fruit and dead birds on a ledge by Peter Binoit was auctioned at Christies in London in April 2000, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 5,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 16,450.00 (€ 28,161.73). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Peter Binoit achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Tulips, roses, a cornflower, lily of the valley, primroses, a snowdrop and other flowers in a roemer, with a snail, two beetles, a ladybird and a caterpillar on a ledge; and An iris, narcissi, and other flowers in a roemer, with a butterfly and other in December 2000 with an auction result of GBP 575,750.00 (€ 917,16
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Tulips, roses, a cornflower, lily of the valley, primroses, a snowdrop and other flowers in a roemer, with a snail, two beetles, a ladybird and a caterpillar on a ledge; and An iris, narcissi, and other flowers in a roemer, with a butterfly and other im Dezember 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 575.750,00 (€ 917.164,60).
