Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Sprat, 1980 by Peter Alexander was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in April 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 5,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at USD 22,812.50 (€ 18,963.01). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peter Alexander - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (turquoise triangle), circa 1970s, which sold at auction in September last year for USD 55,000.00 (€ 56,219.97).
