Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sosta della carovana con l'acquedotto di Claudio sullo sfondo by Penry Williams was auctioned at Il Ponte in May 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 6,000.00 – 6,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 5,600.00. Admittedly, works by Penry Williams have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mass for the Reapers in June 2000 with an auction result of GBP 16,450.00 (€ 26,075.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Sosta della carovana con l'acquedotto di Claudio sullo sfondo von Penry Williams im Mai 2017 bei Il Ponte versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 6.000,00 – 6.500,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 5.600,00 den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Penry Williams auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mass for the Reapers im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.450,00 (€ 26.075,28).
