Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Village By A River With A Sailing Boat; A Village By A River With Fishermen by Peeter Gijsels was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 52,500.00 (€ 67,584.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Peeter Gijsels - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A town with figures working in bleaching fields in the foreground, which sold at auction in May 2007 for EUR 216,000.00.
