Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Briseis by Paul Manship was sold in the American Art auction at Sothebys in New York in May 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 400,000.00 – 600,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 442,000.00 (€ 402,037.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Paul Manship - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Indian Hunter And His Dog, which sold at auction in December 2013 for USD 1,565,000.00 (€ 1,135,786.34).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Briseis von Paul Manship wurde im Mai 2015 in der Auktion American Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 400.000,00 – 600.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 442.000,00 (€ 402.037,47) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Paul Manship mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Indian Hunter And His Dog beobachtet, die im Dezember 2013 für USD 1.565.000,00 (€ 1.135.786,34) versteigert wurde.
