In October 2020 Christies in New York held the auction The Unseen Eye: Photographs from the W.M. Hunt Collection, which included the work The Japanese Lantern, 1909 by Paul Haviland. The »bidding war« ended at USD 2,250.00 (€ 1,931.83), 50% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Paul Haviland have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Flat Iron Building in April 2000 with an auction result of USD 11,750.00 (€ 12,927.71).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion The Unseen Eye: Photographs from the W.M. Hunt Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Japanese Lantern, 1909 von Paul Haviland zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 2.250,00 (€ 1.931,83) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Paul Haviland auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Flat Iron Building im April 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.750,00 (€ 12.927,71).
