Commentaire : Cette esquisse a du être réalisée à Rome en souvenir d'une attente au Vatican quand Besnard a été reçu par Benoît XV pour faire son portrait. Le peintre s'amusait à regarder les visiteurs qui désiraient une entrevue et réalisait alors quelques croquis.

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Moine Franciscain Parlant Avec Trois Femmes by Paul-Albert Besnard was sold in the Old Master and 19th Century Drawings auction at Artcurial in March 2012. The price achieved of EUR 1,030.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paul-Albert Besnard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Madame Alfred Lenoir Et Ses Deux Filles in November 2011 with an auction result of EUR 67,650.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Moine Franciscain Parlant Avec Trois Femmes von Paul-Albert Besnard wurde im März 2012 in der Auktion Old Master and 19th Century Drawings bei Artcurial versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 1.030,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Paul-Albert Besnard erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Madame Alfred Lenoir Et Ses Deux Filles im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 67.650,00.
