Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work French a Howdah In Hyderabad by Paul-Albert Besnard was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,659.36). Admittedly, works by Paul-Albert Besnard have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Madame Alfred Lenoir Et Ses Deux Filles in November 2011 with an auction result of EUR 67,650.00.
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit French a Howdah In Hyderabad von Paul-Albert Besnard im Dezember 2018 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 6.875,00 (€ 7.659,36) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Paul-Albert Besnard auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Madame Alfred Lenoir Et Ses Deux Filles im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 67.650,00.
