Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Fall of the Rebel Angels by Paolo de Matteis was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2021. The price achieved of USD 5,040.00 (€ 4,153.28) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paolo de Matteis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Sacrifice of Isaac in July 2006 with an auction result of GBP 114,000.00 (€ 166,882.64).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 5.040,00 (€ 4.153,28) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Paolo de Matteis erzielen.
