Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Rebecca'S Journey To Canaan by Paolo de Matteis was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2012, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 39,650.00 (€ 48,899.46). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Paolo de Matteis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Sacrifice of Isaac, which sold at auction in July 2006 for GBP 114,000.00 (€ 166,882.64).
