This artwork by Paolo de Matteis achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January 2013. In the Property from the Estate of Giancarlo Baroni auction, the work Design For A Ceiling Decoration With Aurora Driving A Chariot Drawn By Dragons sold for USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,962.60) - well above the upper estimate of USD 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Paolo de Matteis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Sacrifice of Isaac in July 2006 with an auction result of GBP 114,000.00 (€ 166,882.64).

Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Paolo de Matteis erzielen.
