This artwork by Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in Hong Kong in November 2021. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in Association with Poly Auction auction, the work Wilde Wilde West sold for HKD 1,764,000.00 (€ 196,138.92) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 600,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Shade of Black sold at auction in July 2020 with the realized price of USD 250,000.00 (€ 212,332.26).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe erzielte im November 2021 bei Phillips in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in Association with Poly Auction wurde die Arbeit Wilde Wilde West für HKD 1.764.000,00 (€ 196.138,92) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 600.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Shade of Black im Juli 2020 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 250.000,00 (€ 212.332,26).
