Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still Life Of Fruit And A Plate Of Oysters by Osias Beert the Elder was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 338,500.00 (€ 244,051.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Osias Beert the Elder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Still Life Of Porcelain Vessels Containing Sweets, Pewter Plates Bearing Sweets And Chestnuts, Three Pieces Of Glassware And A Bread Roll On A Table Draped With A Mauve Cloth in January 2012 with an auction result of USD 1,650,500.00 (€ 1,264,460.28).
