In September 2020 Christies in London held the auction Snowdon: A Life in Art and Objects, which included the work A large set design for the garden scene for the birthday of Princess Aurora, Sleeping Beauty by Oliver Messel. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,067.49), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Oliver Messel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Mrs William "Babe" Paley (1915-1978) in September 2020 with an auction result of GBP 23,750.00 (€ 26,188.24).

Im September 2020 führte Christies in London die Auktion Snowdon: A Life in Art and Objects durch, in der auch die Arbeit A large set design for the garden scene for the birthday of Princess Aurora, Sleeping Beauty von Oliver Messel zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.875,00 (€ 2.067,49) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Oliver Messel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of Mrs William "Babe" Paley (1915-1978) im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 23.750,00 (€ 26.188,24).
