Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Trail Boss by Olaf Carl Seltzer was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in October 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 7,575.00 (€ 6,503.82). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Olaf Carl Seltzer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Blackfeet Warriors (Piegans) in May last year with an auction result of USD 100,800.00 (€ 93,933.46).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Trail Boss von Olaf Carl Seltzer im Oktober 2020 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 7.575,00 (€ 6.503,82) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Olaf Carl Seltzer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Blackfeet Warriors (Piegans) im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 100.800,00 (€ 93.933,46).
