Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary Middle Eastern Art including BaghdadiyatIraqi Masterpieces from the Madhloom and Makiya Collections, which included the work The Songbird by Nouri al-Rawi. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 5,100.00 (€ 5,942.83). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nouri al-Rawi - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in October 2014 for USD 21,250.00 (€ 16,959.30).
