In June 2005 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British Art, which included the work Sunset, Cornwall by Norman Town. The result of GBP 300.00 (€ 444.62) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 300.00 – 500.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Norman Town - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Still Life With Bottles, which sold at auction in October 2004 for GBP 956.00 (€ 1,375.95).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Juni 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th Century British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sunset, Cornwall von Norman Town zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 300,00 (€ 444,62) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 300,00 – 500,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Norman Town mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Still Life With Bottles beobachtet, die im Oktober 2004 für GBP 956,00 (€ 1.375,95) versteigert wurde.
