Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Stage design for 'The Legend of the invisible city of Kitezh' by Nikolai Alexandrovich Benois was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2015. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 11,456.15) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nikolai Alexandrovich Benois - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Russian Village, which sold at auction in June 2011 for GBP 31,250.00 (€ 34,572.32).
